Please come out and join Dayton Creative Syndicate as we welcome our May guest speaker: Jack Supple of Pocket Hercules. When: Wednesday, May 4th, 2011, 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. Where: Brixx Ice Co. Cost: There is no cost to attend this speaker event.
Pocket Hercules is an independent, full-service hybrid ad agency in Minneapolis. With equal parts advertising, public relations, digital, design and product development, they’re set up to be a lean, nimble branding powerhouse. They pride ourselves in creating innovative, tailor-made solutions to complex marketing problems that directly produce brand momentum and sales. As a small advertising agency and PR firm, their working model is simple, transparent and highly efficient: top-level talent works directly with clients which forges deeper partnerships, more potent work and the ability to respond immediately to opportunities in today’s ever-changing marketing landscape.
Prior to being named chairman and chief creative officer of Carmichael Lynch in 2000, Jack Supple held the positions of president, executive creative director and senior writer since joining the agency in 1979. During his 27 year tenure, CL emerged as one of the nation's top creative agencies.
No matter how large the brand, Jack helped CL to find the soul of that brand and to become a client's trusted "keeper of the flame" with work that was smart and elegantly simple. Under Jack's leadership, the agency grew and expanded its account list to include Harley-Davidson, Porsche, Northwest Airlines, Gibson Guitars, Rapala, A.G. Edwards, American Standard and Coca-Cola. As chief creative officer, Jack helped CL expand its long-standing creative reputation into award winning PR, interactive, relationship marketing and design disciplines.
Jack left Carmichael Lynch in July 2006, finding the role of chairman of the 300-person agency to be too distant from the work. In January 2007, he began working with some former employees at Pocket Hercules, helping to create a pool of senior talent who could offer hands-on work to national accounts.

I learned a lot from SummitUp - both as an attendee and as a member of the SummitUp planning/marketing committee (representing Dayton Creative Syndicate).
Thoughts/Themes:
Integration: One of my main goals as a social media marketing strategist is to create integrated campaigns at Real Art. I believe that social media works best when combined seamlessly with websites, with print campaigns, across the board. I was glad to see that the idea of integration one of the big themes of the day.

Creatives of all ages and backgrounds gathered at saa Tuesday night to discover how they could get more Traction from their creative careers. Anyone who walked through the doors that night hoping for a quick-fix, easy answer were probably disappointed in the report from guest speaker Tony Neary.

“If you do the push-ups, Coach will put you in the game,” was his repeated explanation of why the company he founded with Tom Kisker works harder than most players in this industry. “If you do the work, you’ll get the rewards. Your client asks you for five concepts? Give them 10.” This do-the-whole-job mentality earned them their first client notch on their belts -- the Florence Freedom minor league baseball team. Using their networking skills to get through the doors, team Traction employed their go-for-broke strategy and a careful display of hubris kept the team’s general manager on board through Traction’s execution of the brand image overhaul, which sealed the deal. This strategy is what kept -- and still keeps -- Tony and Tom’s company cruising. Targeting potential clients based on their company ideologies of designing for passion, fun and purpose, the Cincinnati-based creative firm has taken on several NBA D-league teams, software companies, non-profits and even a few brands of health and beauty magnate Proctor & Gamble. The secret to success? “Show them that you want to be there, don’t just do what’s been asked of you, do the whole job,” Tony reiterates. Looks like there really isn’t a hidden path circumventing that foreboding grindstone, after all. But, as Tony demonstrated in Tuesday’s presentation, hard work pays off in future jobs, which is all any firm can ask for. Join us for more insider tips and advice from inspiring guest speakers. DCS, GDAA and the school of advertising art welcome Ben Nunery and Pat Jones from Powerhouse Factories on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m.
